How to Save a Christian Marriage

Update: April 1st, 2010

One of the most volatile of all relationships is the Christian marriage, the reason for this is because sin is known, so the sins your partner commits are much more noticeable. The Christian marriage, although "made in heaven", has its problems which usually stem with the couples need to fulfill moral and religious obligations, while they must also keep their marriage together.

How to Save the Christian Marriage

In the following tips you will learn from actual Christians who have experienced near-death of their marriages and have walked away with stronger relationships.

1. Re-dedicate yourself to your church vows

This is not about reaffirming your church relationship; it is about rededicating yourself to your spouse the vows you originally took. Hold on to your spouse again and give your self to him again. This will make your marriage stronger. Reaffirming your church relationship never hurts either.

Another thing you can do is reaffirm your vows in front of family and friends by having a second wedding.

2. Share the bible with your spouse and pray together

A very important Christian saying points out that, "A family that prays together, stays together". This is as true a statement as any ever made. Praying creates a strong unbreakable bond that no human mistakes could ever break.

Prayer allows a feeling of peace and closeness with your maker, which is shared by your spouse when you both pray together. Your united front with God becomes your lifestyle. Additionally you share your thoughts and feelings with your spouse as you confirm them with God; this brings you closer as you know what your spouse really feels.

3. Observe the Rules of God

The rules you need to especially pay attention to is the rule that says "You should do to other people what you expect them to do to you". That is especially true for your wife. If you do something bad to her, it is quite possible that she can do the same to you so you really want to stay clear of hurting her in order to maintain your happy home.

By simply following the rule of treating her the way you want to be treated, you open the door for forgiveness which will save your marriage and keep you happy with your spouse.

4. Look for Christ in your spouse

If you can find Christ in your husband or wife, then you will find that you can't do bad things to them, because it will be like you are going against God.

The Bible says "Whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren that you do unto me" so if you hurt her you also the savior within her. If you want to save your marriage, treat her as you would treat Christ.

5. Trust in God

If you are doing all these things, and there are still areas of strain in your marriage, then stop and take it to the Lord in prayer. Remember once you put it in his hands, whatever happens will be His Will. Believe He will make the right choice for you and your spouse.

When you have Christ as the center of your marriage, He will be your anchor during the rough times you will encounter throughout your days and His love will see you though. Be strong in your faith in God and you marriage will be stronger for it.
